By reading kampot.life, subscribing to the newsletter, or otherwise poking around the site, you’re agreeing to the terms below. They are written in plain English, because we’d rather be understood than sound clever.
Last updated: 7 May 2026.
What this site is
kampot.life is an independent editorial publication about Kampot, Cambodia, and the wider question of moving slowly through Southeast Asia. Everything you read here is the considered opinion of the editor at the time of writing — not professional advice.
Editorial, not advisory
Pieces on the site touch on visa rules, banking, schooling, healthcare, property, food safety, riding scooters, and other things where the stakes are real. Treat the writing as orientation, not as legal, financial, medical, or immigration advice. Rules in Cambodia change, businesses open and close, and your situation is not the editor’s situation. Before making a decision that costs you money or affects your status, talk to a qualified professional in the relevant field.
We try hard to be accurate, and we update pieces when we hear we’ve got something wrong. We do not, however, guarantee that any information on the site is current, complete, or correct, and we accept no liability for losses arising from acting on what you read here.
Copyright
All writing, photography, and design on kampot.life is © Artur and kampot.life, all rights reserved, unless explicitly marked otherwise.
You’re welcome to:
- quote short passages with a clear credit and a link back,
- share links to articles on social platforms or in private messages,
- print pieces for your own personal, non-commercial reading.
You are not welcome to:
- republish pieces in full on other sites or newsletters,
- repackage the writing into AI training datasets, scrapes, or derivative content products,
- use the kampot.life name, logo, or design in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation that doesn’t exist.
If you’d like to do something with the work that isn’t on the “welcome” list, write in and ask. We’re often happy to say yes.
Sponsorship and affiliate links
Where a piece is sponsored, paid for, or includes an affiliate link that earns the publication a small commission, we say so on the piece. We don’t take money to change a verdict, and we don’t recommend places, products, or services we wouldn’t recommend unpaid.
Links to other sites
Articles link out to restaurants, guesthouses, government pages, and other publications. We don’t control those sites, we don’t endorse everything they contain, and we’re not responsible for what happens on them.
The newsletter
Subscribing to the monthly letter is free and voluntary. We’ll send you one issue a month, more or less, around the new moon. You can unsubscribe at any time from the link at the foot of any email. We reserve the right to remove subscribers from the list at our discretion — for example, if an address bounces repeatedly or is used abusively.
Comments and correspondence
If you write to us — by email, in reply to the newsletter, or otherwise — we may quote you, anonymously and lightly edited, in a future piece or letter. If you’d rather your note stayed private, say so in the message and we’ll honour it.
Availability
The site is run as a labour of love on commodity infrastructure. It will sometimes be slow, occasionally be down, and may from time to time be moved, redesigned, or paused. We don’t promise uninterrupted service.
Changes to these terms
We may update this page from time to time. The date at the top reflects the last meaningful change. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Any dispute that can’t be resolved over a long coffee will be handled by the competent courts of Cambodia.
