The Pepper House opened in 2022 in a restored shophouse two blocks from the old bridge. The kitchen is small — three cooks, one pass — and the menu changes twice a month depending on what the pepper farms east of town have delivered.

The house has a light hand. A pepper crab here is not a showcase of how much pepper can be heaped onto a plate; it is a careful balance between the heat of the green peppercorn, the sweetness of the crab, and a lime dressing that ties it together. Worth the small wait at the door on weekends.

Booking is not taken for parties under six. Walk in before eight to avoid queuing.
